At the Meal Kit Comparison, we love providing in-depth comparisons of all the meal kit delivery companies in the States. As the meal kit industry is always changing, evolving and expanding, it can be a difficult decision choosing which meal kit delivery service is the one that is best suited for you. With our meal kit comparisons, you can look at two companies at the same time and easily note the differences between the companies. That way you can take note of what appeals to you and what doesn’t.
Today we are looking at two companies that provide a service where delicious and healthy eating is a priority. There are a few notable differences between the two companies, so let’s get started.
With Green Chef you have the option of two different plans. There is also the flexibility with Green Chef to change plans from week to week if you desire.
- The Two-person plan includes three meals per week for two people. With the two-person plan, you have the option of choosing one of the following menus – Vegan, Vegetarian, Keto, Gluten Free, Paleo or Omnivore
- The Four-person plan includes two meals per week for four people. With the four-person plan you have the option of choosing either the Omnivore or the Carnivore menu.
Hello Fresh has three different types of plans which are as follows:
- The Classic Plan: 15 dishes per week for two or four people
- The Family Plan: 6 dishes per week for four people
- The Veggie Plan: 3 dishes per week for either two or four people
Both Green Chef and Hello Fresh offer wonderfully diverse menus so you will really be spoilt for choice when it comes to selecting your weekly dishes.
For Green Chef customers you firstly need to select one of the seven weekly menus that cater for different lifestyles. These menus are paleo, vegan, keto, omnivore, carnivore, vegetarian and gluten-free. After you have indicated your preferred menu, you can then choose three of their delicious meal options as part of your weekly plan.
Hello Fresh provides the option of eight recipes in their Classic Plan, four in their Family Plan and three in their Veggie Plan.
The style and complexity of dishes
One of the things that we really love about Green Chef and Hello Chef is that not only are all the meals incredibly delicious, they are also filled with beautifully fresh ingredients.
Since Green Chef as a company, has a USDA organic certification, obviously providing tasty meal kits filled with organic ingredients is a top priority. It is interesting to note that catering for specialty diets is also a priority for them, as is convenience. This is clearly in evidence with the fact that all their meals can be prepared within 30minutes. Hello Fresh is another company that believes your time is important and like to provide meal kits that are easy to prepare.
They tend to focus on classic and well-known dishes but usually include some tasty twists in their recipes. The dishes are not too sophisticated or complicated which means that people do not have to worry about them being too intimidating.
Quality of Ingredients:
The ingredients that are used by both Green Chef and Hello Fresh are always fresh, delicious and of a premium quality.
Green Chef is a USDA certified organic company and because of this, they only use organic and sustainably sourced ingredients from a trusted network of ranchers, farmers, fishermen and artisans.
Hello Fresh loves helping customers to increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in their daily diet. While their produce is not always organic, it is always fresh and sourced from farm-gates and fantastic suppliers. They do guarantee that all their meats are sourced domestically, and all poultry and pork is hormone-free. Seafood is always sustainably sourced.
There is a big difference between the two companies when it comes to delivery. Green Chef and Hello Chef both deliver their meal kits in specifically designed boxes that are labeled and arranged so that any proteins are packed with enough ice for the delivery process.
However, when it comes to unpacking the delivery, Hello Fresh has ensured that the individual ingredients of each meal kit are sorted, labeled and packaged in separate bags. This means that there is no sorting required by you and it is simply a matter of unpacking the box and putting the meal kit ingredients away.
With Green Chef, you need to allow a little time as while the ingredients are labelled, you will need to sort the different ingredients for each box before packing these away.
The App and Website
With both companies you will find that you can easily manage your account online. This means that account registration, plan selection, updating payment method, meal selection and account cancellation can all be completed online.
Green Chef has a mobile-optimized website, so they do not offer an app. With Hello Fresh you can use either their website or their app.
To use the services of both companies a subscription is required. However, this subscription comes with a certain amount of flexibility. You can skip weeks if necessary and you can also easily cancel your account online with both companies.
We love both Green Chef and Hello Chef as they provide a wonderful meal kit service that delivers the tastiest and nutritious meals. If we had to stipulate a winner, in this instance it would be Hello Fresh. Everything we have tried from Hello Fresh has been such a delicious treat. We also love the fact that their meals are so easy to cook and are usually really appealing classic meals. Finally, we really appreciate the fact that their delivery is so well organized, and unpacking is a breeze!
